A Smart Alternative
As cedar grows and ages, a unique oil containing thujaplicins and water-soluable phenolics forms in the heartwood. This natural wood preservative eliminates the need for toxic chemicals such as arsenic and copper compounds found in treated lumber.
Workable & Reliable
Western Red Cedar is craftsman-friendly! With a fine, straight grain and uniform texture, it is unusually easy to cut, saw, and nail with common tools. Because its shrink & swell factors are a mere fraction of most softwoods, you can depend on Western Red Cedar to lie flat and stay straight. And without pitch and resin you can easily stain it and lock in its gorgeous color!
