The Heartbeat

Easy Christianity!

Updated: Nov 7, 2022

This journal has very little to do with how we run a business or how Yoder’s needs to perform at an excellence level that far outshines the competitors, but there are some principles that could be applied when it comes to our belief system and if we are going to stand up for what we believe is the right way to live or do business.

First of all, I am no Theologian and you may be able to find some holes in this article, but I do believe the principles stand to be true. The last couple of months I have had a stirring in my soul about something that I feel needs to be shared. The Bible says the way to Eternal Life is very simple! Repent, believe and be baptized. I think that the gospel is awesome and is incredible simple and easy to understand!

Here is where I feel like we as Christians and churches in America miss it. We preach that the Gospel is easy and getting saved is. I agree! We also preach that we as Christians have access to the same power that healed the sick, made the blind to see, turned water into wine and raised Lazarus from the dead. That is also true.

That is where we stop. We do not do a good job teaching people how to get access to that power. Yes, that is right! Just because you have asked Jesus Christ in your heart does not give you the power! The power comes through a very close relationship with Jesus Christ, which comes by daily reading the Bible, prayer and fasting! The disciples who were with Jesus DAILY still had to pray and fast. Matthew 17:21

That goes without saying that we need to live pure lives. That does not mean that we don’t ever mess up and sin. It means that we intentionally walk close to our Savior and away from sin and do not test the “Grace of God”. God’s blessings are passed on to many generations through faithful living! Generational sins are also passed on to 3rd and 4th generations! I truly believe the reason we see so many struggling Christians (not in every case-read Job) is because we don’t live victoriously and therefore do not tap into the blessings of God. Living for the purpose of God is hard work and tough choices, but the rewards are incredible.

I am preaching to myself because I want to be the very best I can be on this earth. I intend to work hard for my relationship with Jesus. I will not take it lightly! I intend to make a difference for Christ because I have his power and not of my own hard work!

Thanks for listening to my rant!

Thought for the month:

We trust people because they showed up when it wasn’t convenient, because they told the truth when it was easier to lie and because they kept a promise when they could have gotten away with breaking it.

Every tough time and every pressured project is another opportunity to earn the trust of someone you care about.

Hint: it never comes from the good times and from the easy projects.
